Leah & Ben’s Love Story
Their wedding was a fairytale—the most picturesque day you can imagine—and their first date was straight out of a romantic comedy. Leah calls it the best of both worlds.
Leah and Ben were set up by a mutual friend in August of 2017. While, like most dates, it was supposed to be just the two of them, their friend unexpectedly decided to tag along. It was a little different from the typical first date, but they still had a blast! They snuck a kiss at the end of the night, and the rest is history.
Ben’s proposal ten months later was private and incredibly sweet. He did things the old fashioned way, asking for her parent’s permission the week prior. The timing was a surprise to Leah, but she responded with an instant yes!
When it came to planning their wedding, the process was natural and easy. As Leah is in the wedding industry, she knows what venues are out there and which businesses she wanted to work with to bring her day to life.
For their ceremony, Ben and Leah chose The Woods Chapel in Long Lake, Minnesota, an intimate and beautiful wooden chapel with amazing outdoor scenery. Again, opting for a venue with beautiful outdoor scenery, specifically the oak trees on the property, they went with Burl Oaks Golf Club for the reception. Ben is a member, and they often play golf there. It’s an added bonus that, now, they have the memory of their wedding attached to a place they already enjoy.
The greenery and colors of the floral design combined with the styling of the gorgeous wooden chapel by One Precious Pearl Floral Design gave the wedding a rustic yet elegant feel. It was classic and authentic to Ben and Leah, who both value tradition and family. At Burl Oaks, the greenery theme was continued with an expanse of fern arrangements spanning the head table, groupings of greens and blossoms in milk glass vases, and garland draped around the outer edge of the room. The room was lit with numerous candles and fairy lites, giving it a soft and elegant asthetic.
What was the best moment of the day for Ben and Leah? It was when the doors opened at The Woods Chapel, and they saw each other for the first time. This was the beginning of a new chapter for both of them—the start of Leah and Ben’s happily ever after.
